GPT was released by OpenAI in the year 2018, and we have already seen what exactly it is capable of achieving. Recently I had a chance to revisit my old university, and to my surprise, I found that almost every student was using it to do their research and assignments. Nobody is even bothered to do the old school Google search anymore since that would just be a lot too much work opening tons of websites to find the answer to that question you have, and well human beings are well known for their laziness. I never thought I would come to see that day when Google would be “too much work,” but here we are.
After GPT-4 was released about a month ago, people were all over the internet showing what it was capable of, from writing movie scripts and generating a visual representation of the script to super realistic artistic images, just to mention a few capabilities of the new GPT-4. So my question is, if all that happened after just a few years of working on AI, what will AI be in the next 50 years or even less? Very soon, GPT will be implemented into robots that are, without any doubt, which means that soon we will actually have those Virtual Assistants that we can actually ask questions directly or even have a conversation with, so yeah, personally, I think that we will soon a very huge breakthrough.
DO NOT PAY; if you are not aware of what I am talking about, this is actually an Artificial Intelligent based lawyer. This a not-so-old AI-based platform which, although is not very dependable at the moment, from what we see, again, just think of what is going it is going to be like in the near future. DO NOT PAY is actually able to find loopholes and use those loopholes to make a verdict. So what is the future of lawyers? If an AI platform can save us from paying thousands of dollars to lawyers, what is the future of lawyers? I mean, there is nothing to worry about, but since people are still working on it, actually, I take back what I just said, “BE WORRIED.”
Also, we all know that GPT is also capable of generating code from almost every programming language there is. Although many programmers use still do most of the work even after using GPT to generate code, how long do you think it will take for AI to be able to do the compiling by itself? After how long will AI be able to debug all those errors and actually build complete projects with little or no human intervention? Many people, especially programmers and developers, are claiming that there is no way AI can take over their jobs because of how limited its capabilities are at the moment but to me, it’s just a phase of denial. After all, they spent, I mean, we spent so many years developing the skill we have right now, and seeing AI do the work we spent so many years learning is just heartbreaking.
Technology, in general, has taken over many jobs over the years, and we have all witnessed it, so I feel with AI, it’s going to be exactly the same, it’s just a question of when. We are on the edge of witnessing a huge breakthrough in terms of Artificial Intelligence, and no matter how much we deny it, it’s here, and we should all be worried. After all, GPT is just 4 years old, and we already know what it can do, just ask yourself what will it be able to do in the next 20 years?
Very informative
